# Update API key

> Update the name of an existing API key.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This endpoint only updates the API key's name. To change an API key's
> [permission or domain](/docs/dashboard/api-keys/introduction#edit-api-key-details),
> edit the key in the [Resend Dashboard](https://resend.com/api-keys).

## Path Parameters

The API key ID.

## Body Parameters

**name** `string` *required*

The API key name. Maximum 50 characters.
